How does therapy works?

Before therapy is initiated, your child will be assessed. Their areas of strength and weakness will be determined through the use of standardised assessment tools. Based on this a comprehensive therapy programme will be designed to meet the needs of each individual child. Children are regularly reassessed to monitor their progress and to prioritise further goals for intervention.

How do most children respond to therapy>

Parents often worry that their children’s self esteem will be negatively affected by attending therapy. In fact children’s responses are usually exactly the opposite – they feel more empowered and confident. Therapy is conducted through play and positive reinforcement and is fun and enjoyable.

How long and how frequent are therapy sessions?

Sessions are generally between 30 and 45 minutes in duration, usually on a weekly or twice weekly basis depending on the child’s needs. Therapy is supplemented with home programmes and this can play a pivotal role in assisting the therapy process.
